Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles grew by 13 percent in April: SIAM

New Delhi, May 12 (Hindustan Times). Wholesale sales of domestic passenger vehicles in the country grew by 13 per cent year-on-year in April. Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles stood at 3,31,278 units in April, as against 2,93,303 units in April, 2022.

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) said in data released on Friday that wholesale sales of domestic passenger vehicles grew by 13 per cent year-on-year in April. The industry body said that demand remained strong across all segments during this period. According to the data, wholesale sales of passenger vehicles stood at 3,31,278 units in April, as against 2,93,303 units in April 2022.

According to the data, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd shipped 1,37,320 vehicles to dealers during this period, as against 1,21,995 units in the same period last year. Similarly, Hyundai Motor India’s wholesale vehicle sales stood at 49,701 units in April as against 44,001 units in the same period a year ago.

SIAM said wholesale sales of two-wheelers also increased by 15 per cent to 13,38,588 units in April from 11,62,582 units a year ago. Similarly, wholesale sales of three-wheelers also increased to 42,885 units in April. Wholesale refers to the number of passenger vehicles delivered from companies to dealers.

Vinod Agarwal, president of the industry body, said that good monsoon rains could help sustain the growth in vehicle sales in the coming times. SIAM Director General Rajesh Menon said that the sale of passenger vehicles in the month of April has been the highest ever in April of any year.
