Surat: For the first time more than 600 nurses working in Civil Hospital were honored with nametags.

‘International Nurses Day’ was celebrated by ‘The Trained Nurses Association of India’-Surat Branch at Surat New Civil Hospital Auditorium. In which more than 600 nurses working in the nursing staff for years in New Civil were honored with name tags and pens for their special contribution. Along with this, the nursing students also gave the message of public awareness through the poster of organ donation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dilipdada Deshmukh of Organ Donation Trust spoke about his experience of liver transplant and praised the compassion and skill shown by the nurse along with the doctor. He said that it is the nurse who spends maximum time after the operation and takes care of the patient. He explained the importance of the close relationship between patient and nurse by characterizing the metaphor of ‘sister’ given to the nurse. He described the nurses as ‘nursing warriors’ who empathize with the patients in the hospital.

On this occasion, Civil Superintendent Dr. Ganesh Govekar said that the contribution of nurses is very important in fulfilling the prescriptions written by doctors in the treatment of patients. In his address, Iqbal Kadiwala of Nursing Council said that nurses are always dedicated to serve the patients admitted in the hospital. The Corona period has created the belief that Indian nurses have made significant contributions in the field of health all over the world. He said that our aim is to build a healthy India and make India a leader in all fields of the world.

On this occasion, the nursing staff of New Civil cut the cake. A street play based on organ donation was presented by the students of Government Nursing College and Helping Hand by the students of T&TV Nursing College. Also, all the people present in the program took a collective pledge of ‘Organ Donation Mahadan’.

On this occasion, Dean of Government Medical College and Head of Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Ritambhara Mehta, R.M.O. Dr. Ketan Nayak, Principal of Government Nursing College Dr. Indravati Rao, Additional Medical Superintendent Dharitriben Parmar, Nursing Superintendent Sumati Gawde, Slum Committee President Dinesh Rajpurohit, Dr. Nilesh Kachadia, Vv. Syndicate member T.B. And Head of Chest Department Dr. Parul Vadgama, Kailasji Hakim, Nilesh Lathia, Vibhor Chugh, principals of various colleges, social workers, faculty in-charge, brothers as well as principals, employees were present.

Florence Nightingale’s birthday is celebrated as ‘International Nurses Day’

The birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing and the world’s first nurse – 12 May is celebrated as ‘International Nurses Day’ all over the world. Born 200 years ago on May 12, 1820, Florence Nightingale gave a new identity to nursing by linking human service to nursing. Florence is also known as ‘Lady with Lamp’. The Nightingale Award honors outstanding contributors to the field of nursing. The year 2020 was observed as the ‘International Year of the Nurse and Midwife’.
