The judicial custody of Sukanya Mandal, daughter of Birbhum District Trinamool Congress President Anubrata Mandal, arrested in cow smuggling case, has been extended for two months. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court gave this order on Friday. Sukanya was produced in the court today at the end of the custody period. Sukanya was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). After his arrest, he has been sent to Tihar Jail.
The CBI has recently presented a 204-page charge sheet in the court in the cow smuggling case. Sukanya Mandal, Anubrata Mandal, Manish Kothari, Sehgal Hussain are also named in the charge sheet. The investigating agency demanded more time to investigate on the basis of the charge sheet. On the basis of this demand, the court has already extended the jail term of Anubrata Mandal and others till July 12.
The Rouse Avenue Court has also sent Sukanya Mandal and Anubrata Mandal’s CA Manish Kothari to jail till July 12. Many accused of economic embezzlement in the cow smuggling case are now lodged in Tihar Jail. Anubrata Mandal, along with other accused in the case, is in Block 7. However, Sukanya is kept in the women’s cell. Sukanya had filed a bail application in Rouse Avenue Court on the grounds of physical illness. This application will be heard on May 26.

Sukanya Mandal was arrested by the ED on April 26 in the case of cow smuggling. After this she was in ED custody for a few days. Later he was sent to Tihar Jail. In the charge sheet presented by the ED in this case, it has been claimed that Sukanya was directly involved in several financial transactions of cow smuggling. However, the counsel for Sukanya Mandal said that she did not know anything. She used to do whatever her father told her. Sukanya claimed that her father used to ask her to sign the check book and she did.
