Jharkhand: The rate of extracting sand from the ghat is Rs 83, but the contractor is paying Rs 10, the Mines Department is facing this problem

For sand ghats, tender has been floated for about 150 ghats in 12 districts of the state. The Mines Department has fixed the rate of extracting sand from the ghats in the tender at Rs 83 per CFT. But, in the financial bid, the companies have filled the rate of Rs 10 to 20 per CFT. Because of which the tender of sand is stuck in the districts. The Deputy Commissioners informed Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh who was doing video conferencing on Thursday.

The Deputy Commissioners told about the difficulties being faced by the Mines Department in finalizing the tender for sand ghats at such a low amount than the fixed amount. Mr. Singh advised to seek rate justification from the contractors quoting less amount, after being satisfied with it, complete the process by taking additional bid security. Asked to complete the tender at least 20 days before the arrival of monsoon, so that enough time can be given to stock sand. He directed the districts to complete the tender of sand ghats soon on priority basis.

Instructed the Deputy Commissioners to stop illegal mining:

In video conferencing, the Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners to stop illegal mining. Said that the task force constituted at the district level should regularly monitor. Take action by marking hot spots of illegal mining in the districts. Take action on the FIRs registered so far. Shri Singh inquired about the District Mineral Fund Trust (DMFT).

He was told that about 10,696 thousand crores have been recovered in the districts under DMFT. Out of this, schemes worth Rs 8,147 crore have been approved. Shri Singh asked the Deputy Commissioners to give approval to the schemes according to the fund. Asked for the compliance report of the instructions given earlier also.

Instructed to close non-essential bank accounts

The Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioners to close non-essential bank accounts. Said that the government’s money should not be lying idle in the banks. He directed the Deputy Commissioners not to spend time in mutation for projects related to land acquisition.

Said that there should be no delay in the schemes of road construction, mines and other departments for problems related to land acquisition or mutation. For this, by fixing the Deputy Commissioner’s time, ensure mutation or other solution. The Chief Secretary also reviewed the works done under the farm loan waiver and drought relief scheme.
