Bhagalpur: Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur University will conduct research on the treatment of Panama disease in banana plant, so that the disease can be stopped. At the same time, more and more farmers in Seemanchal can get involved in banana farming. This project of the University has been selected by the Science and Technology Research Board (SERB) New Delhi under the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under the State University Research Excellence (Sure). Dr. Vivek Kumar Singh, teacher of PG Botany Department, has been selected for the project. The Institute of Science and Technology has approved Rs 30 lakh for this project. Dr. Singh has received the acceptance letter of the project by email. He has to complete this project in three years.
Treatment will be done with organic mixture
Dr. Vivek said that he had sent a proposal to the research agency to treat Panama disease in banana plant through micro-organisms. Under this, a mixture of trichoderma fungus, vermicompost and mushroom waste will be prepared by biological method. Will be added to organic matter if needed. It may contain medicinal plants. Panama disease occurring in banana plant will be treated with this mixture. Its initiative will be taken first from the areas of Navgachia. Then later this treatment will be used at the state level as well.

Farmers were upset after surveying in Navagachia
Dr. Vivek said that along with the students of the department, many areas of Navgachia were surveyed. Here banana farmers were discussed about their problems. The farmers told that due to disease in the banana plant, the banana is falling happily. Farmers are refraining from cultivating banana. He told that during the survey, some samples of the disease in the banana plant had been brought. After checking in the lab here, it was found that there is fungus in the soil itself.
A new revolution will come in the field of agriculture
Told that with this initiative, banana farmers will now be able to save their crop which is getting destroyed due to Panama disease. Due to this, there will be a massive increase in the production level of banana. They will also get more profit. Banana farmers of Navgachia will get great relief from this treatment. The method of treatment is biological. The government is also promoting farming through organic method. After working on this project, approval can also be given for big projects in the near future.
