Indian Railways News: Barddhaman-Bandel local train derails, trains going to Howrah affected, passengers upset

Deoghar: 37784 Down Barddhaman-Bandel EMU local train derailed while entering Shaktigarh station at around 21:16 hrs on Wednesday night. This affected all the trains going towards Howrah via Jasidih. Many trains were standing for more than five hours on the way here and there. Passengers had to face a lot of problems in the trains.

Passengers faced a lot of trouble due to the end of water in the Purvanchal Express standing on platform number two of Jasidih at around 2 o’clock in the night. Due to the incident, the schedule of many trains was also changed, while the General Manager, Divisional Railway Manager and other senior officers of Eastern Railway also reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. To complete the work of restoration of train service at the earliest, the high officials of Eastern Railway were continuously monitoring. Trains started operating from around seven in the morning.

There is no report of any injury or casualty in the incident. As per information received by CPRO, single line operation for mail and express trains also continued till around 14:00 hrs till the completion of repair work for down main line at the accident site. About half a dozen trains ran late due to the accident.
