Banking crisis in America likely to deepen, global market under pressure

New Delhi, 05 May (Hindustan Times). Today the trend of weakness is visible in the global market. All three Wall Street indices closed with losses in the previous trading session due to fears of a worsening banking crisis in the US. Similarly, the European market also continued to remain weak during the trading session of the previous session. Today, the situation of pressure remains in the Asian markets as well. Apart from India, 6 out of 9 markets in Asia are trading today. Of these, except for the Hang Seng index, all the remaining markets are in a declining trend.

During the last trading session, the Dow Jones lost 286.50 points, or 0.86 percent, to close at 33,127.74. Similarly, the S&P 500 index ended its trading session at a level of 4,061.22 points with a weakness of 0.72 per cent. Apart from this, the Nasdaq closed at a level of 11,966.40 points with a decline of 58.93 points, or 0.49 percent.

Let us tell you whether the banking crisis in America is once again seen to be deepening. There has been a huge decline in the shares of three more regional banks here. During the last 1 week, the Regional Bank Index has broken up to 17 percent. PacWest Bancorp shares lost 51 percent in the previous session alone. Similarly, Western Alliance Bancorp declined 38 percent, while First Horizon’s shares slipped 33 percent. Obviously, this crisis of banks has negatively affected all the three indices of Wall Street. For this reason, all the three indices of Wall Street closed down in the last trading session.

In the last trading session, the trend of decline in European markets also remained. The FTSE index closed at 7,702.64, down 50.73 points, or 1.11 percent. Similarly, the CAC index fell 63.06 points, or 0.86 percent, to end its trading at 7,340.77 points in the previous session. Apart from this, the DAX index slipped 80.82 points, ie 0.51 percent, to close at the level of 15,734.24 points.

The Asian markets are also under pressure today. Apart from India, out of 9 markets in Asia, Nikkei, Kospi and Set Composite Index are not trading today. Out of these 9 Asian markets, only the Hang Seng index is trading at a level of 20,076.91 points with an increase of 128.18 points or 0.64 percent.

On the other hand, SGX Nifty is trading at a level of 18,226 points with a weakness of 59 points i.e. 0.32 percent. Similarly, the Straits Times Index fell 0.17 percent to reach the level of 3,263.3 points. The Taiwan Weighted Index is trading at a level of 15,608.30 points with a slight decline of 0.01 percent. Apart from this, the Jakarta Composite Index is trading at 105.89 points, ie 1.55 percent, at the level of 6,738.14 points and the Shanghai Composite Index is trading at 3,326.62 points with a weakness of 0.72 percent.
