Gold worth crores of rupees has been seized from Surat airport. Some people had brought gold illegally from Dubai. All the youths belong to Patidar family. The gold smuggler accused used to give 25 thousand rupees to the person who brought the gold. At the same time, a big racket of smuggling has been exposed. SOG police have arrested all the youths. After which it will be investigated from where they had brought the gold and where they were going to take it.
In a press conference, Surat Joint Commissioner of Police Sharad Singhal informed that four people have been arrested from the airport with 7.158 kg gold worth more than Rs 4.29 crore. All had stolen gold from Dubai. All four are residents of Mota Varachha and Utran. Youths named Fenil Mawani, Nirav Davariya, Umesh Lalo Davariya, Sawan Rakholia have been arrested. The four were arrested two days back from SK Nagar Chowk on Dumas Road.
The gold smuggler accused used to give 25 thousand rupees to the person who brought the gold. They used to bring gold in the form of paste. This paste was kept hidden in the undergarment. The gold powder was brought from Dubai. If this amount of gold is brought from the airport, then 36 per cent custom duty has to be paid. Thus, these people were trying to avoid customs duty. In some cases, the gold was brought by hiding it under the sole of the shoe. He used to go to Dubai on tourist visa.
After this incident, the CCTV installed at the airport will be examined. For the last 6 months, the accused were roaming like this. Gold worth Rs 4.3 crore has been seized from the accused. Out of the arrested accused, 2 accused are bringers (carriers) and 2 are deliverers (senders). The gang was active for the last 6 months, these people used to make 5-6 rounds in a month. These people used to smuggle in this way to avoid paying customs duty. At whose behest he was going to Dubai and who was ordering the gold, he is currently being interrogated.
