Prime Minister will inaugurate 91 FM transmitters on 28, coverage will increase in aspirational districts and border areas

New Delhi, 27 April (Hindustan Times). Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 91 FM transmitters of 100W through video conferencing on February 28. The inauguration will further boost radio connectivity in the country.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, 91 new 100W FM transmitters have been installed in 84 districts of 18 states and 2 union territories. The special focus of this expansion has been on increasing the coverage in aspirational districts and border areas.

Those covered include Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Ladakh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands groups are included.

With this extension of FM service of All India Radio, additional 2 crore people will now be covered. As a result, the coverage will be expanded in an area of ​​about 35,000 sq km.
