Investigation of counterfeit notes seized in Surat’s Amroli reached Chennai. Surat SOG team nabbed the main accused from Chennai. Police has taken further action today after getting 10 days remand of the accused. Along with this, the Home Minister announced a reward of 2 lakhs to the team of Operation Chennai.

On the 14th, an alert citizen called the police control room in Surat’s Amroli area to inform that a person was carrying a suspicious note. Amroli police seized fake notes of Rs 500 from Shantilal Bhavarlal Mewada and his cousin Vishnu Mishrilal Mewada during investigation. And examined them and reached Bangalore first. From where the police arrested Michael Rivan alias Rahul Pascal Fernandes of Karnataka Bangalore and recovered duplicate notes of Rs 5.79 lakh from him. After the arrest of the 3 accused, they were thoroughly interrogated. This note was brought in by Michael Surya Selvaraj (Chennai, Tamil Nadu).

The SOG team arrested Surya and on inquiry found out that he used to print fake notes at home. Fake currency worth Rs 17 lakh was seized from him. The accused has so far circulated notes worth Rs 2.12 crore in 10 states. The police today took the accused on 10-day remand and made a thorough inquiry in the matter. State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi praised the Surat Police for this commendable work and announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh to the team of Operation Chennai.
