Prayagraj, 17th April (Hindustan). Police Commissioner Prayagraj has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder of mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. On the other hand, the Director General of Police has formed a supervision team for the quality of investigation and timely action.
In the three-member SIT constituted by Police Commissioner Prayagraj Ramit Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime Satish Chandra has been made the chief investigator and Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kotwali Satendra Prasad Tiwari and Inspector Om Prakash, Inspector of Investigation Cell, Crime Branch, as co-investigators.
At the same time, three members have also been included in the supervisory team constituted by Director General of Police RK Vishwakarma from the capital Lucknow. In these, the Additional Director General of Police, Prayagraj Zone has been made the chairman while the Commissioner of Police Prayagraj and Director, Forensic Science Laboratory have been made its members.
Significantly, Mafia Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were shot dead at around 10.30 pm on Saturday night when both the brothers were being taken by the police for medical health examination at Calvin Hospital in Prayagraj. In this case, the police immediately caught three attackers on the spot.
The police have registered an FIR against the three named accused and two unknowns caught in this high profile double murder case at Shahganj in Prayagraj. Police Station President Shahganj is investigating the matter.
On Sunday afternoon, the three accused Lavlesh Tiwari, Arun Kumar Maurya and Shani were presented in the district court. The court has sent all three to jail in judicial custody for 14 days.
Police Commissioner Prayagraj says that in the critical proceedings of this case, it is expedient to get the statements of witnesses, evidence, records etc. compiled from the forensic science laboratory and to ensure a fair and quality investigation, it is expedient to conduct this investigation with the SIT. .
