The leader of the “Wagner” Group suggests that the war in Ukraine should be stopped because it has achieved its goals

“For the authorities and for society in general. It is necessary today to put a decisive end to the special military operation. The ideal scenario is to announce the end of the special military operation, to inform everyone that Russia has achieved its goals, and in a sense it has. We have eliminated a huge number of fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and we can report that the tasks of the special military operation have been fulfilled,” he wrote.

“In theory, Russia achieved its goals by destroying a large part of Ukraine’s active male population and intimidating another part, which fled to Europe. Russia has cut off access to the Sea of Azov and much of the Black Sea, seizing large swathes of Ukrainian territory and creating a land corridor to Crimea. Now there is only one thing left to do: to position ourselves well on the ground won and to strengthen our position in the territories we have”, Prigojin wrote.

Prigojin writes in his article that the prolonged war does not find support among the Russian elites; these being described in the article as the “deep state”.

“Many of those who yesterday supported the special operation either now have doubts or are categorically opposed to what is happening,” writes Prigojin. “Representatives of the deep state urgently want to return to their normal lives, to their old habits and comforts.”

According to the head of the “Wagner” Group, the opponents of the war within the political elites are sabotaging the decisions made in order to successfully continue the war. “During the meetings she is silent, expressing her doubts. And when decisions are made through bureaucratic procedures, they inhibit certain actions designed to lead to victory”, believes Prigojin.

As Prigozhin writes, the future offensive of the Ukrainian army could end with a breakthrough of the front line (he qualified as unlikely the option of a successful development of the Russian attack “to the borders of the DNR, Dnipro or Poland”).

“In this case, the Russian army, which for years was considered one of the best armies in the world, may first begin to decline, and then the situation will deteriorate,” wrote the head of “Wagner”.

According to him, this development could lead to a social explosion that threatens all elites, except for high-ranking Russian leaders:

“People are already looking for blame for the fact that we are not the strongest military in the world, but in this situation, they will look for ‘foreigners.’ At the same time, it is clear from his words that he believes that losing the war is a better scenario for the country than making agreements that fix the status quo.

We recall that numerous sources regularly report conflicts between Prigozhin and the Ministry of Defense, which, among other things, lead to delays in arms and ammunition deliveries.

A published document, which was allegedly prepared by the American secret services, claims that Putin personally tried to reconcile Prigozhin and the Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu. Prigozhin’s criticisms of high-ranking officials have so far had no notable impact on their careers.
