Who trapped Deutsche Welle into propaganda against RAB?

For the past few days, a recently released “documentary” by the German broadcast network Deutsche Welle (DW) has been circulating on social media and video-sharing platforms including Facebook and YouTube. This so-called documentary is actually a bogus propaganda. It is created and propagated to mislead the common people in Bangladesh as well as international community by spreading false, fabricated information against the current government and Bangladesh Police’s elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). DW multimedia journalist Arafatul Islam is the mastermind behind this fake documentary.

According to some sources, Arafatul Islam was an activist of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). In this so-called documentary, a man named Nafiz Mohammad Alam is presented as a “whistleblower” by ‘Deutsche Welle’, where he gave series of false and concocted information against RAB, while it is proved that the German broadcast network made this propaganda content with the nefarious agenda of tarnishing the image of RAB and undermine it’s applaudable success in countering terrorism, militancy and religious extremism as well as drug, weapon and human trafficking operations.

Let us first know the real identity of Deutsche Welle’s “whistleblower” Nafiz Mohammad Alam.

Nafiz Mohammad Alam aka Don Nafiz, the so-called whistleblower of Deutsche Welle’s anti-RAB propaganda content is basically a long-time activist of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He regularly publishes posts on social media targeting ruling Awami League, government officials, law enforcement and intelligence agencies in Bangladesh, including the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Nafiz Mohammad alias Nafiz Don has been involved in dealing in drugs and illegal weapon for years while he also is accused of being involved in extortion, contract killing, kidnap, hijack and other forms of criminal activities. Using the umbrella of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), he has been openly selling drugs and foreign liquor in Dhaka city. Apart from drug trade, Nafiz has also been maintaining crime rackets in the city under the umbrella of his crime racket named ‘Syndicate International’. In his crime racket, there are dozens of youth in various parts of Dhaka city, including Gulshan, Banani, Uttara and Bashundhara area.

Nafiz mainly lives in Bashundhara residential area. His activities are in posh areas of the city namely Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, Uttara and Bashundhara residential area.

His accomplices in these activities were the leaders of crime gangs named ‘Nine MM Group’ and ‘Six Star Group’ in Uttara area, where leaders of this gangs are Md Hossain (34), Md Shakeel (24), Md Mamun (23), Md Siam A Khan (23), Md Masud Hossain (24), and Md Ony (36). All of these accomplices of Nafiz Mohammad Alam are identified as top terrorists and drug dealers in their respective areas and are involved in terrorism, theft, robbery, extortion, fights, etc., in addition to controlling the drug trade in the area.

On November 4, 2021 Nafiz Md Alam alias Don was apprehended along with two of his accomplices from Dhaka city’s Bashundhara residential area. During that time, Nafiz Md Alam alias Don along with his female accomplices namely Ratri Khan (23) and Somaiya Prova (21) were arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Huge volume of drugs, alcoholic beverages including 361 bottles of foreign liquor, 299 cans of beer, Pethidine injection, Buprenorphine injection, Cannabis etcetera were seized from his possession.

According to credible sources, Nafiz Md Alam alias Don is the ringleader of an organized drug syndicate operating within Dhaka city’s residential areas such as Gulshan, Banani, Uttara and Bashundhara. Name of his drug racket is ‘Syndicate International’, which peddles drugs and alcoholic beverages through social media platforms, while Nafiz Md Alam alias Don maintains a gang of youth to deliver goods to the clients. Slogan of ‘Syndicate International’ is “Anything is Possible”. In most cases, members of the delivery unit of Nafiz Md Alam alias Don were using motorcycles for faster delivery of drugs and alcoholic beverages.

Nafiz Md Alam alias Don has been roaming in the city with a sedan car bearing fake stickers pretending to be a member of a law enforcement agency. He also has been supplying girls to various posh hotels, guest houses and residences in Dhaka city.

Nafiz Md Alam alias Don was also having a strong footprint within Dhaka city’s Uttara area and is accused in a case lodged with Uttara West Police Station. But members of his gang in the Uttara area are still to be arrested by the law enforcement agencies. He has also been the organizing secretary of an organization named ‘Future of Bangladesh’ which operates from Uttara area.
