The ax of artificial intelligence, ever sharper. Here are how many jobs could become history

.“Despite significant uncertainty about the potential of generative artificial intelligence, its ability to generate content that is indistinguishable from human-made output and break down communication barriers between humans and machines reflects a major advance with quite large macroeconomic effects “, the report states.

However, experts believe that the loss of jobs due to automation has been offset in the past by the creation of new types of jobs. These new occupations that emerge with technological innovations account for “the vast majority of long-term employment growth.”

It is estimated that generative artificial intelligence could boost annual labor productivity growth in the US by just under 1.5 percentage points over 10 years. Even so, growth could vary depending on the difficulty level of tasks that AI will be able to perform. This global increase in labor productivity could also lead to annual global GDP growth of 7%, the research authors said.

Concerns that artificial intelligence will “steal” our jobs are all the more relevant in light of the popularity of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Just last month, a survey by Sortlist Data Hub found that 26% of European software and technology companies plan to cut jobs as a direct result of ChatGPT.

The jobs most at risk in the US are clerical and administrative support jobs, followed by jobs related to law, architecture and engineering. Shielded from the tide of modernization will be manual jobs such as maintenance, repair and construction.
