The Qatari economy achieved a real growth rate – constant prices of 8% during the fourth quarter of 2022 on an annual basis, compared to the same period of 2021.
The data of the Planning and Statistics Authority issued today showed that the quarterly GDP estimates at constant prices reached about 179.99 billion riyals in the fourth quarter of 2022, compared to the revised fourth quarter estimates for 2021 amounting to 166.68 billion riyals, which resulted in an increase of 8%.
The same data revealed a 2.7% increase on a quarterly basis, compared to revised estimates for the third quarter of 2022, amounting to 175.32 billion riyals.
In the same context, the gross domestic product jumped at nominal current prices by 26.2% on an annual basis, to about 220.43 billion riyals in the fourth quarter of 2022, compared to the revised fourth quarter estimates for the year 2021, which amounted to 174.65 billion riyals, and compared to the revised estimates for the third quarter. For the year 2022, which amounted to 229.69 billion riyals, the gross domestic product decreased by 4%.
The contribution of the mining and quarrying sector activity to the GDP at current prices in the fourth quarter of last year amounted to about 91.25 billion riyals, up by 43.4%, compared to the revised estimates for the fourth quarter of 2021, which amounted to 63.64 billion riyals, and compared to the estimates for the previous quarter (the third quarter of 2021). 2022), which amounted to 106.76 billion riyals, recording a decrease of 14.5% of the total value added for this sector.
While the estimates of the added value at constant prices for the same sector amounted to 64.18 billion riyals, during the fourth quarter of the year 2022, and compared to the estimates for the same quarter of 2021 (the fourth quarter), it amounted to 61.25 billion riyals, an increase of 4.8%, and compared to the revised estimates for the quarter Third of 2022, which amounted to (64.37 billion riyals), a decrease of 0.3% was recorded.
The data indicated that the value-added estimates at current prices for non-mining activities and quarries in the fourth quarter of last year amounted to 129.18 billion riyals, an increase of 16.4% compared to the revised estimates for the fourth quarter of 2021, which amounted to 111.01 billion riyals, and compared to the revised estimates. For the previous quarter, the third quarter of 2022, which amounted to 122.93 riyals, it recorded an increase of 5.1%.
Estimates of value added at constant prices for this sector in the fourth quarter of 2022 amounted to a total of 115.81 billion riyals, showing an increase of 9.9%, compared to the revised estimates for the fourth quarter of 2021, which amounted to 105.43 billion riyals, and compared to the estimates It was reviewed for the previous quarter, the third quarter of 2022, which amounted to 110.95 billion riyals, as it recorded an increase in value added at constant prices by 4.4%.
