We specify that, as of March 28, Chisinau International Airport is no longer managed by the “Avia Invest” company, but has passed into state management.

We mention that, on November 23, 2022, the ex-minister of justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, announced that the Chisinau International Airport would return to state ownership. A decision in this regard was taken by the magistrates of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.

After Litvinenko’s announcement, ex-prime minister Natalia GavriliČ›a gave assurances that Chisinau International Airport will continue to benefit from investments, and jobs will not be lost.

We remind you that, in July 2020, the Public Property Agency (APP) announced that it had resolved (no – retroactively abolished) the contract for the concession of the assets of the Chisinau International Airport, concluded with Avia Invest. APP said that the concessionaire does not comply with its contractual obligations. On the other hand, Avia Invest declared that the accusations “are false and made under the influence of the politician”, giving assurances that all the conditions stipulated in the contract are fulfilled. Accordingly, he attacked the Government at the International Court of Arbitration, and the court in Stockholm prohibited, through a provisional decision, the termination of the contract.

In 2013, “Avia Invest” took over the operations and management of Chisinau International Airport as part of a public-private partnership, managing the airport for 49 years and investing 250 million euros in its modernization. Later, the company was accused of not complying with the contractual obligations, and the termination of the concession contract was requested. The company denied the allegations and sued Moldova at the Stockholm Arbitration Court.
