Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that the use of technology will help in achieving the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. He said that India is creating a modern digital infrastructure on a large scale and ensuring that the benefits of the digital revolution reach everyone.

In a series of webinars being organized after the general budget, Modi said that the government wants to reduce the compliance cost for small businesses. He asked the industry to prepare a list of compliances that could be done away with.

The Prime Minister said, “We want to reduce the compliance cost of small businesses. Can you (industry) come up with a list of unnecessary compliances that can be done away with. We have eliminated 40,000 compliances.”

He said that technology is being used to solve the problems faced by the taxpayers. For this the tax system is being made ‘faceless’.

Modi said that it was only because of technology that the ‘One Nation, One Ration’ scheme could be realised. He further said that the JAM trilogy (Jan-Dhan Yojana, Aadhaar and mobile number) helped the benefits reach the poor. The Prime Minister said technologies like 5G and AI (Artificial Intelligence) are being discussed and are set to transform medicine, education, agriculture and many other sectors.

He asked the stakeholders to identify 10 problems faced by the common man which can be solved using AI. He said that 21st century is technology driven and it cannot be confined to digital, internet technology only.
