Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V.K. Saxena has recommended the names of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators Atishi Marlena and Saurabh Bhardwaj to President Draupadi Murmu for appointment as ministers in the cabinet.
Officials gave this information on Thursday. He told that the appointment of Atishi and Bhardwaj will be effective only when the resignations of Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are accepted by the President. After the resignation of Sisodia and Jain, two posts in the cabinet are vacant.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has recommended the names of Atishi and Bhardwaj as cabinet ministers.
“On March 1, after the Chief Minister recommended the appointment of Atishi Marlena and Saurabh Bhardwaj as ministers, the Lieutenant Governor recommended it to the President the same day,” said a Raj Niwas official. Since there can be only six ministers in Delhi at any point of time, their appointments will be effective only after the resignations of Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are accepted by the President. Exactly a day before, on February 28, the resignations of Sisodia and Jain were sent to the President.
