Merger of two schemes to help women; ‘Shakti Sadan’ scheme made

Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani said on Wednesday that Swadhar Greh Yojana, which is being run to help women passing through adverse circumstances, and Ujjwala Grih Yojana, which is being run to prevent prostitution of women, will be named it. “Shakti Sadan” has been kept.

In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Irani said that “Shakti Sadan” is an integrated relief and rehabilitation housing scheme being run for women living in adverse conditions.

He informed that “Shakti Sadan” is a demand based centrally sponsored scheme under which funds are allocated by the Central Government to the States and Union Territories for the implementation of the scheme for women.

Irani informed that Rs 21.37 crore has been allocated in 2019-20, Rs 24.33 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 18.01 crore in 2021-22 under the “Shakti Sadan” scheme.
