Congress workers on Sunday held a nationwide ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the disqualification of party leader Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha. Congress workers participated in the protest in several states and union territories like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat.

Inaugurating the Sankalp Satyagraha, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accused the government of trying to silence the voice of the martyr’s son for raising his voice in the interest of the people.

Priyanka said that a person walking thousands of kilometers to unite the country and the son of a martyr Prime Minister can never insult the country. He said, ‘Till date they have been insulting our family and we remained silent but not anymore. How many BJP leaders have been booked so far for repeatedly insulting my family members?

Priyanka said, ‘You called the son of a martyr a traitor, Mir Jafar, insulted his mother in Parliament. In Parliament the Prime Minister asks why this family does not use the surname ‘Nehru’. You have insulted the entire family and the tradition of Kashmiri Pandits.

However, the BJP on Sunday criticized the Congress over the ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’, alleging that it was agitating against the country’s constitution and court verdict to justify Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against the country’s ‘entire backward community’. Is.

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi demanded an explanation from the Congress, saying, “Is this to justify the way you insulted the entire backward community of the country or against the court which sentenced you or against the provision which Have you been disqualified under?’

On the other hand, BJP President JP Nadda commented on Rahul being disqualified from the Lok Sabha membership and said that the rope got burnt but the strength and arrogance did not.

Rahul was on Friday disqualified from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala after he was sentenced to two years in prison by a Surat court in a 2019 defamation case. The notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat states that the disqualification order will be effective from March 23.

Rahul Gandhi on Sunday changed his introduction on Twitter and wrote ‘Unqualified MP’ (Disqualified MP). In his official Twitter account of Wayanad, he also wrote ‘Unqualified MP’ instead of his introduction. BJP leader Amit Malviya on Sunday also accused Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi of lying about her brother Rahul Gandhi’s educational background.

On the other hand, many other parties condemned the action taken against Rahul Gandhi. The ruling CPI(M) in Kerala said its statements on disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha were not in support of the Congress leader, but were opposing the BJP’s undemocratic action against him.

Top Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary said that the opposition is united because of this issue and this unity will increase day by day. Gehlot said, ‘For the third time I have been made the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, now what will be the bigger message for OBCs than this.’

Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Sunday said the disqualification of his party’s ex-speaker from the Lok Sabha would strengthen the Congress and give it an advantage in the general elections next year. He called this period the period of ‘Undeclared Emergency’.

In Delhi, the police did not allow the Congress to hold ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ at Rajghat. Kharge, who is leading the Sankalp Satyagraha, said why does the ruling party feel pain when fugitives like Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi are criticized.

He said, ‘Now they talk about OBCs, are Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi OBCs, they ran away with people’s money. If he is a fugitive then why does it pain you when he is criticized? You (BJP) punish the person who works to save the country and send abroad those who looted the country.
