India working on the target of ending TB by 2025: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that India’s ancient spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ is giving an integrated approach and solution to the modern world. On the occasion of World Tuberculosis (TB) Day, Prime Minister Modi addressed the ‘One World TB Summit’ organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the United Nations supported organization ‘Stop TB Partnership’ at the ‘Rudraksha Convention Center’ in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. .

He said that the ideology of India as a country is reflected in the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and this ancient thought is giving a unified approach and solution to the modern world. Beginning his address with a chant of ‘Har Har Mahadev’, he said that the new thinking and approach with which India started working against tuberculosis (TB) since 2014 was indeed ‘unprecedented’.

Modi said, “India has worked together on many fronts in the fight against TB in nine years such as public participation, special campaigns for nutrition, new strategies for treatment, optimal use of technology and health promoters”. Campaigns like ‘Khelo India’ and Yoga.” Earlier, the Prime Minister launched a number of projects, including TB-free panchayats as the official launch of TB Prevention Treatment (TPT) and a family-centred care model for tuberculosis.

He also released India’s Annual TB Report 2023 on the occasion. Modi also laid the foundation stone of the Varanasi branch of the ‘National Center for Disease Control and High Containment’ laboratory and unveiled the ‘Metropolitan Public Health Surveillance Unit’, Varanasi. State Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak welcomed Modi in this program. Representatives from many countries of the world participated in this event.

Appreciating the efforts of Prime Minister Modi, Dr. Lusika Ditiu, Executive Director of ‘Stop TB Partnership’, said that by 2025, Tuberculosis will end in India. He gave the slogan “TB Harega-India Jeetega, TB Harega-Duniya Jeetega”. Earlier, on Friday morning, Prime Minister Modi arrived on a day-long visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi where he was received at the airport by several prominent leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
