Former US President Donald Trump received $1.5 million for his campaign from his supporters after reports surfaced that he could be arrested. This was announced on Wednesday, March 22, the website of the TV channel of Fox News.

According to the channel, supporters of the ex-head of state received emails and videos allegedly from Trump’s campaign headquarters, including on social networks. The materials talked about the detention of the former president.

In messages, the ex-head of state asked them to sign a petition against criminal charges against him and to donate between $500 and $3,300 for his election campaign.

“If things don’t go well for you <…>don’t send anything. If everything is fine with you, what became possible thanks to <…> administration policy [президента] Trump, do your part, ”the TV channel quotes the words of the politician from the allegedly sent video.

Earlier, on March 18, Trump said that, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, he would be detained on March 21. The former head of the United States said that the decision to arrest was made by the “corrupt and incredibly politicized office of the Manhattan District Attorney.” Trump stressed that he did not commit any crimes and urged his followers to protest future charges if he is arrested.

It’s about an old criminal case about giving a bribe to hush up a scandal involving porn star Stormy Daniels. In 2016, Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen sent Daniels €130,000 to keep her from talking about her 2006 affair with the billionaire. The woman intended to go on television shortly before the opening of polling stations.

On Saturday, March 18, American businessman Elon Musk tweeted that Trump’s possible detention would contribute to his re-election in the 2024 elections.

After that, on March 22, it became known that before the start of the hearing on the lawsuit of New York Attorney General Letitia James against former Trump, a bomb threat was reported to the court of Lower Manhattan. According to media reports, then the meeting was canceled altogether. Thus, Trump could be charged as early as Thursday.
