The United Development Company, the master developer of The Pearl and Gewan Islands, has intensified its efforts to create a healthy and sustainable community for all residents and workers on The Pearl Island by launching various environmental initiatives in the field of environmental sustainability.

One of the most prominent initiatives launched by the company recently is the initiative to plant a tree for every new employee who joins the company, and successively for every 5 years spent in the company. The initiative comes with the aim of reducing carbon dioxide emissions in the air and increasing the green spaces on the Pearl Island, which currently includes 7,700 trees that compensate about 197 tons of carbon dioxide.

The initiative was launched in October 2022 last year, during Qatar Sustainability Week, when UDC renewed its international commitment to the Paris Climate Change Agreement, which aims to reduce carbon emissions.

In the context of activating the initiative on the Pearl and Gewan islands, 600 trees have been planted so far, and a certificate has been handed over to each new employee stating that his tree has been planted, and to commemorate his joining in a manner that reflects the company’s environmentally friendly efforts. Since the launch of the global initiative, about 160 trees have been planted with the participation of the Green Organization in its campaign to plant a trillion trees and with the support of the United Nations.

The United Development Company confirmed that reducing carbon dioxide emissions is more effective than compensating for it, which is necessary to achieve environmental sustainability and preserve the environment for future generations. reusable water bottles, and encouraged the reduction of the use of non-biodegradable plastic, the rationalization of energy and water consumption, and called on all company employees and residents of The Pearl Island to recycle waste as a daily habit, and to participate in recycling campaigns, plant trees, and use sustainable materials, in an effort to protect the planet and maintain it.

The company has succeeded in being a pioneer in its environmentally friendly practices, and this initiative motivates all the pioneers and residents of The Pearl-Qatar and UDC employees to achieve the company’s vision of environmental sustainability and reflect the values โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹โ€‹of confronting climate change, increasing environmental awareness and protecting the marine environment of the island.
