March 6 – BLiTZ. According to the Turkish TV channel TRT Habera Turkish Airlines flight from Istanbul to Barcelona made an emergency landing due to sensors in the cargo hold during the flight.

After the sensor was triggered, flight attendants confirmed to the captain of the aircraft that there was a strong odor in the cargo hold. As it was established after landing, the sensor worked due to the excess of sulfur in the air. The reason for this was the exotic fruit durian carried in the luggage of one of the passengers.

Growing in Southeast Asia, the durian is known for its pungent, unpleasant odor that contrasts with its great taste. Many airlines prohibit the transportation of this fruit under the threat of a fine.
