Moscow hosts the annual “Spring Puppet Ball”, an exhibition-salon, which brought together almost 1.5 thousand puppeteers and a huge number of guests from different cities and countries. This is reported by Izvestia on Saturday, March 4.

According to the President of the International Union of Doll Authors, artist and exhibition organizer Svetlana Pchelnikova, every time the exhibition surprises visitors with something new. This year at the “ball” you can meet Cheburashka, beloved by many, as well as dragons, angels, fairies and other fairy-tale characters.

“This year there are a lot of dragons, both mystical and esoteric in general. <…> I think people missed the fairy tale and want to get a little distraction,” Pchelnikova said.

The fabulous atmosphere of the exhibition was also noted by its participant, puppeteer artist Elena Lukyanenko. At the same time, the artist added that she tries to put a piece of her worldview into her dolls.

“I play them as bright forest characters, and I try to convey emotions that are close to me today, that is, close to today’s life,” Lukyanenko said.

Each doll presented at the exhibition exists in a single copy. Some masters create their masterpieces for several months, and therefore consider their work not a game, but real art.

The exhibition will run until March 5th.
