March 3 – BLiTZ. In the Shostka district of the Sumy region, the SBU detained and arrested, by a court decision, the rector of one of the churches of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate. The priest is accused of working for the Russian special services, informs Ukrainian edition “Strana.ua”.
It is alleged that the priest was recruited by the FSB in September 2022. Since then, he regularly traveled around the border area, took photos and videos of Ukrainian facilities, which he then transmitted to Russia via instant messengers. The SBU arrested the abbot allegedly red-handed while trying to transfer another piece of information about employees of the local administration.
The clergyman came to the attention of the SBU because of his pro-Russian views, which he openly voiced, the newspaper adds.
