Kommersant: A commission has been set up in Turkey to investigate the consequences of large-scale earthquakes

March 3 – BLiTZ. As reported on the pages of the publication “Kommersant”, the Turkish parliament decided to establish a special commission. Its members will investigate the consequences of a large-scale earthquake in Turkey. The natural disaster occurred in the south-east of the country, in the city of Kahramanmarash.

Deputies of the Turkish Parliament unanimously supported the creation of the commission. This was reported in the Anadolu agency. Based on the conclusions of the members of the special commission, the authorities will take additional measures to restore the destroyed infrastructure of cities.

A large-scale earthquake of magnitude 7.7 occurred on February 6. The death toll in the country exceeded 45 thousand people. According to the very first estimates, the damage caused to the country is estimated at $34.2 billion.

In neighboring Syria, 1.5 thousand people were killed. A series of aftershocks continues in the region, several of them were recorded on February 20.
