Film box office for January-February 2023 in Russia exceeded the figures for the entire pre-pandemic year of 2019. This was announced on Friday, March 3, by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova in her Telegram channel.

According to the head of the Ministry of Culture, the past months of this year have become record-breaking in the history of Russian distribution.

“In the first months of 2023, 40 million tickets were sold. The fees exceeded the annual pre-pandemic indicator of 2019 and amounted to 13.1 billion rubles (13 billion in 2020 and 11.7 billion in 2019). For two months, the amount of fees is 56% more than for the same period in 2022, and 46% more than in 2021. We are pleased to note that Russian cinema is interesting to the widest range of viewers,” Lyubimova said in a statement.

She also noted that about 30 more premieres are planned in 2023 with the support of the Ministry of Culture.

On February 9, in the hall of the Simferopol Tchaikovsky Musical College, before the official premiere, a special screening of the film “Nuremberg” was held. The main roles in the film were played by Evgeny Mironov, Sergey Bezrukov, Sergey Kempo, Lyubov Aksenova and other artists. The first viewers in Crimea gave the film high marks.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote about the success of the Russian premiere: the box office of the comedy Cheburashka amounted to more than 3.5 billion rubles. Thus, the film became the most profitable in the domestic box office.
