March 3 – BLiTZ. According to the European Space Agency, the cause of the fall of the Vega-C rocket was a defective part made in Ukraine.

On December 21, 2022, a Vega-C light-class rocket was launched from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana. After 2 minutes 27 seconds after the launch, upon reaching an altitude of 105 km, the rocket could not continue its flight and crashed in the Atlantic Ocean. After investigating the accident, the ESA determined that the cause of the fall was the gradual wear of the second stage engine nozzle. The failed engine was assembled in Italy by Avio from components made in Ukraine. The payload at launch was two satellites for remote sensing of the earth.
