SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft with a crew of three astronauts and a Roscosmos cosmonaut successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS). About it informs US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on Friday, March 2.
The docking took place automatically to the Harmony module of the US segment of the ISS at 01:40 US East Coast time (at 09:40 Moscow time).
The international crew includes US astronauts Stephen Bowen and Woody Hoburgh, UAE astronaut Sultan Al-Neyadi and Russian cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev. The Crew Dragon-6 crew will work at the station for six months.
Andrey Fedyaev became the second Russian cosmonaut to fly to the ISS on the Crew Dragon spacecraft as part of the Russian-US cross-flight program. In October last year, Russian Anna Kikina arrived on the ISS as part of the crew of the Crew-5 mission.
On March 2, the Falcon 9 launch vehicle with the Crew Dragon manned spacecraft carrying an international team of specialists successfully launched from the launch site at Cape Canaveral (Florida).
The launch of Falcon-9 was postponed after it failed on February 27 for technical reasons. NASA explained that the hitch was due to problems in the ground fuel supply system.
Earlier, on March 1, the press service of Roscosmos also reported that Russian cosmonauts Konstantin Borisov and Alexander Grebenkin will go to the ISS on American Crew Dragon spacecraft in 2023-2024 under an agreement on cross-flights between Roscosmos and NASA.
Prior to this, on January 25, the head of the American ISS program, Joel Montalbano, said that Roscosmos was openly cooperating with American partners. He also added that NASA is looking forward to continuing the joint program.
