Today, the State of Qatar celebrates its distinguished children in the field of education, through the sixteenth session of the Scientific Excellence Award, which is held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, under the slogan “With Excellence We Build Generations.”
64 winners representing the categories approved for the award will be honored this year, out of 199 applicants who were subject to the criteria and conditions of the award.
The Excellence Award this year includes eight categories: the Scientific Excellence Award for primary school students, which was won by 21 students, the Scientific Excellence Award for middle school students, which was won by 8 students, the Scientific Excellence Award for high school students, which was won by 4 students, and the Distinguished Teacher Award, which won It has two teachers, and the Scientific Excellence Award for university graduates, which was won by 24 university students, and the Scientific Excellence Award for holders of a master’s degree, which was won by two students, and the Scientific Excellence Award for PhD holders, and 2 PhD holders won, and the Scientific Excellence Award for the secondary stage scientific research category, and won It has one student.
The Scientific Excellence Day Award is suitable for honoring the scientifically distinguished people of the State of Qatar in various fields in order to spread the culture of creativity and excellence in the Qatari society, push students to further excellence and distinguished academic achievement, and create integration between individual and institutional efforts in order to improve the outcomes of the educational process, and access to international levels and standards.
The award, which was launched by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for the first time in 2006, reflects the extent of appreciation and attention that the state attaches to the scientifically distinguished people of the State of Qatar, honoring and celebrating them, as well as deepening the concepts of excellence, encouraging all individuals and educational institutions to develop their performance, and promote positive trends. The award works to spread the spirit of innovation among students, researchers and educational institutions, and to fuel the spirit of competition between individuals and educational institutions in the field of scientific excellence, and to direct individual and institutional energies towards scientific excellence in fields that serve the realization of the country’s developmental directions.
Over its previous sessions, the Scientific Excellence Award was able to motivate the people of Qatar towards excellence, until it became a culture in society in an environment that provides wide options in education, and great potentials that the state harnessed through national strategies and clear and deliberate educational plans aimed at building an educational system in line with the highest standards of educational systems. The world and the requirements of the times, with the adoption of the latest technologies and educational and research programs in curricula, assessment and training, which contributed to the development of students’ abilities, discovering their talents and creative potential, and enhancing their scientific research skills in various disciplines and fields, especially those needed by the state.
The number of distinguished honorees, since the launch of the Scientific Excellence Award until the fifteenth session, has reached 872 distinguished individuals and institutions, in the various categories of the award.
It is noteworthy that the winners of the Scientific Excellence Award are awarded medals and financial rewards, as the distinguished student in the primary stage (the platinum medal category) receives a financial reward of (15 thousand riyals), a medal and a certificate of excellence, while the distinguished student who wins the gold medal is granted a financial reward of (10 thousand riyals). The distinguished student in the preparatory stage (the platinum medal category) is granted a financial reward of (20,000 riyals), a medal, and a certificate of excellence.
