Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on February 27 announced a unique moment in order to stop the conflict in Ukraine.
According to Lukashenka, there may not be another such situation.
“We need to take advantage of this moment before Russia deploys its economy in full and puts it on a war footing,” he stressed in an interview with Chinese media, an excerpt of which was published by the agency. BelTA.
As Lukashenka noted, the goal of Russian President Vladimir Putin is to ensure security for his country. From the first days, the Russian Federation has been taking steps towards a peaceful settlement and is ready to do so at the moment, he added.
“I believe that the West and the Americans pushed Kyiv to not conduct any negotiations. Russia offered negotiations from the first day. We were participants in this process, we organized it, we saw it,” the Belarusian president said.
On the same day, political scientist Kirill Averyanov, in an interview with Izvestia, said that the conflict in Ukraine should become one of the central topics that will be raised at the meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Earlier, on February 24, China published a document with a position on the diplomatic settlement of the situation in Ukraine. Its goal is to continue its constructive role in resolving the crisis and achieving peace. Chinese Deputy Representative to the UN Dai Bing indicated that Beijing’s priority is a ceasefire and hostilities.
Lukashenka said the day before that if Beijing’s position on the conflict in Ukraine is not heard, this will lead to serious consequences. He added that not a single problem in the world can be solved without the participation of China.
