Lavrov speaks about megaprojects in Russia and Azerbaijan

Russia and Azerbaijan are currently developing several joint projects, both bilateral and international. About this on Monday, February 27, declared Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in his opening remarks during talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“Several mega-projects are being developed, which will have not only bilateral, but also regional, and somewhere even global character. Many of our and your partners are showing interest in these projects,” Lavrov said.

According to the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, such projects indicate the prospects for cooperation between the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan in the region.

Lavrov also drew attention to the growth in travel of citizens between countries, which only strengthens humanitarian and educational ties between Moscow and Baku.

“We appreciate your personal attention and your government to the support of the Russian language, to the creation of all conditions for all willing citizens of Azerbaijan to take the opportunity to speak, work in Russian, and provide such an opportunity to their children,” Lavrov emphasized during the conversation. with the Azerbaijani leader.

In addition, Lavrov thanked Aliyev for his efforts to stabilize the situation in the region. He expressed hope that all the countries of the South Caucasus will have opportunities for secure cooperation in their interests.

Earlier, on February 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Ilham Aliyev. The leaders of the two countries discussed the current situation in the South Caucasus. Thus, Putin stressed that it is important to consistently ensure security on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In a conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart, the President of Russia also touched upon cooperation, including in the fields of energy and transport.

On October 31, at a summit in Sochi, at a meeting with Putin, Azerbaijani President Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed to refrain from the use of force, discuss and resolve all problematic issues solely on the basis of mutual recognition of sovereignty. In a joint statement, the politicians stressed the importance of active preparations for the conclusion of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan.
