On the authority of Osama bin Zaid, may God be pleased with them, he said: I said: O Messenger of God, I did not see you fasting in any of the months as you fast in Sha’ban? He said: “That is a month that people neglect, between Rajab and Ramadan, and it is a month in which deeds are raised to the Lord of the Worlds, so I would love for my deeds to be raised while I am fasting.” The Companions, may God be pleased with them, watched over the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in his worship, transactions, and throughout his life, and from that they watched him during his fasting. the imposition of it and volunteering; to learn from him. In this hadith, Osama bin Zaid, may God be pleased with them both, says: “I said: O Messenger of God, why do I see you fasting in any of the months as you fast in Sha’ban?” That is: do not multiply the voluntary fasts in one month of the year as much as you do in the fasting of Sha’ban, and it was mentioned in his fasting, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, for Sha’ban what was narrated in the two Sahihs from the hadith of Aisha, may God be pleased with her: “The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, used to fast until We say: He does not break the fast, and he breaks the fast until we say: He does not fast. I did not see the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, complete the fast of a month except Ramadan, and I did not see him fasting more than him in Sha’ban. The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to Usamah, explaining to him the reason for his fasting: “That is a month that people neglect between Rajab and Ramadan,” that is, people forget about it because they worship in these two months, “and it is a month in which deeds are lifted,” meaning: the deeds of the children of Adam, of good and evil. obedience and disobedience, “to the Lord of the Worlds”; Therefore, the deeds in it must be righteous, “so I would love for my deeds to be taken up while I am fasting”; That is, because one of the best deeds in the sight of God is the worship of fasting, or that good deeds, if accompanied by fasting, raise their value and prove their sincerity to God Almighty. It was said: What is meant by the deeds that are raised to Him in the month of Sha’ban are the deeds of the Sunnah, and it came in the Two Sahihs from the hadith of Abu Musa al-Ash’ari, may God be pleased with him, that God Almighty “The deeds of the night are raised to Him before the deeds of the day, and the deeds of the day before the deeds of the night,” and that the deeds of the week It was shown on Monday and Thursday, as in the narration of Abi Dawud and Al-Nisa’i also, and it was said: This may be presented in the year as a whole, and it is possible that it will be shown in the days or week in detail or vice versa; It is as if deeds are presented one after another, and each presentation has a wisdom that God Almighty reveals to whom He wills of His creation, or that He keeps it with Him, even though He is not hidden from Him in their deeds And in the hadith: The month of Sha’ban is one of the months in which fasting is desirable.

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali said in Lataif al-Ma’arif : “It has meanings, and the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, mentioned that when he was surrounded by two great months: the sacred month and the month of fasting, people were preoccupied with them, so he became neglectful of him, and many people think that fasting in Rajab is better than fasting.” Fasting it because it is a forbidden month, and it is not.” And in his saying:

“People neglect it between Rajab and Ramadan,” an indication that some of the times, places, or people whose virtues are known may be better than others, either in general, or because of a specificity in them that most people do not realize, so they preoccupy themselves with what is well-known about them, and they miss out on attaining a virtue. It is not popular with them.” He indicates that when he was surrounded by two great months – the sacred month and the month of fasting – people preoccupied him with them, so he became inattentive to him, and many people think that fasting Rajab is better than fasting Sha`ban because Rajab is a forbidden month, but it is not. In the previous hadeeth, there is an indication that some of the times, places, or people whose virtues are known may be better than others.

Prayer and obedience to God in Sha’ban

With obedience, just as a group of the predecessors used to recommend reviving the time between the two evenings with prayer and they said that it is an hour of heedlessness, and such as this is the desirability of remembering God Almighty in the marketplace because it was mentioned in the place of heedlessness among the people of heedlessness, and in reviving the time that was neglected by obedience benefits Among them: that it be concealed for action and concealing the supererogatory deeds and their secrecy is better, especially fasting, as it is a secret between the servant and his Lord, and for this reason it was said that there is no hypocrisy in it, and some of the predecessors used to fast for a number of years that no one knew about, so he would go out of his house to the market with two loaves and give them in alms and fast. So his family thinks that he ate them, and the people of the market think that he ate in his house.
