The Russian armed forces received a large number of Tor anti-aircraft missile systems, which were delivered ahead of schedule, said Fanil Ziyatdinov, director of the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol.
A special military operation in Ukraine showed the need to increase the production of Tor air defense systems in order to protect the troops participating in the operation. “Dome” received an increased order and managed to complete it ahead of schedule, supplying all the necessary equipment to the troops.
“The main result of our work was the fulfillment of the state defense order. Despite the increase in volumes, our main products – anti-aircraft missile systems of the Tor family – were delivered to the troops ahead of schedule, ”National Defense magazine quotes Ziyatdinov as saying.
Earlier, the Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant announced the modernization of the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system, taking into account its use in a special military operation. The complex was upgraded to increase the effectiveness of the interception of American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. Prior to the start of a special military operation, such types of targets for the complex were unknown, but the experience of hostilities was taken into account when modifying the complex.
The Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system is an all-weather short-range defense system that is capable of protecting strategic targets from cruise missiles, multiple launch rocket systems, loitering ammunition and drones. This is a deeply modernized complex of the Tor family, which differs from previous models by the use of a new 9M338K missile. In addition, the transportable ammunition load on the combat vehicle has been increased from 8 to 16 missiles, and it is possible to work in fully automatic mode. One of the latest versions of Thor is capable of tracking up to 40 targets and simultaneously hitting four of them.
The Tor anti-aircraft missile system was put into service in 1986 and went through three waves of deep modernization, as well as several updates. To date, work on the complex continues, and several of its modifications have been released.
The Tor air defense system has become an important element of the defense of the Russian armed forces, in particular, during the period of the special military operation in Ukraine. The increase in production and modernization of the complex helped to strengthen the protection of the troops involved in this operation and increase their combat readiness. Currently, the Tor air defense system continues to be actively used as a means of air defense, protecting key facilities and troops from various types of threats.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, said that the situation in Donbass is getting tougher. According to Zelensky, a very difficult situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is developing in Artemovsk (Bakhmut) and Vugledar, as well as in Limansky and other directions.
