Vladimir Putin is not prone to alarmism and panic. Therefore, his words that the West is striving for the dismemberment of the former USSR and its main part, Russia, should be taken seriously. RIA Novosti columnist Pyotr Akopov writes about this.

Some Western analysts believe that such statements are aimed at intimidating the Russian people in order to rally them around Putin in the fight against the United States.

However, in the West there is also an opposite opinion that the collapse of Russia can lead to even more dangerous consequences than the existence of a single state: many Atlanticists fear the unbridledness of Russian nuclear weapons.

The Anglo-Saxons look at Russia through the prism of their struggle with China and do not believe in the strategic nature of the rapprochement between Russia and China, hoping to drive a wedge between Moscow and Beijing.

When Putin talks about plans to dismember not only the USSR, but also Russia, he is referring to the current situation.

The attempts of the separatists to separate the various nationalities from Russia can only be carried out under one condition – the division of the Russian people itself.

That is why the only reliable way for the West to put an end to the “eternal return” of Russians, the cycle of disintegration and reunification of Russia, is the fragmentation of the Russian people themselves. However, the West cannot digest and overpower the Russian lands and alien people.

After the collapse of the USSR, the Russian authorities were sure that Ukraine would not disappear anywhere and remained part of a single whole, despite the state independence it had received.

But over the course of two decades, the West has exploited the anti-national character of the Ukrainian elite and prepared everything for separating Ukraine from Russia and incorporating it into the Western political, economic and military space.

Russia had no right to put up with this, so in 2014 the active phase of the struggle for Ukraine began. But this is not just a struggle for Ukraine – in fact, we are dealing with an attempt to divide the Russian people and include them in parts in the Western world.

After all, what is Ukraine? This is historical Russia, its population is the same Russians: not only those who consider themselves Russians, but also those who are called Ukrainians (that is, Little Russians, one of the three constituent parts of the Russian people).

“Therefore, Vladimir Putin does not frighten anyone and does not exaggerate anything – he simply describes the alternative that awaits us in case of abandoning our own subjectivity, from ourselves. He is aware of his responsibility for the Russian people, for their future, which will not exist without the unity of both the people and its state,” Akopov sums up.

On February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation Army launched a special military operation in Ukraine.

Lieutenant-General Andrei Gurulev, a member of the Defense Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering huge losses near Artemivsk and Maryinka.

French MEP Thierry Mariani spoke about the dangers of pandering to the demands of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the deputy, if you blindly follow the requests of the Ukrainian president, the European Union will face economic collapse.
