41 cars got into a mass accident on the M-11 Neva highway in the Novgorod region, a giant traffic jam formed at the scene. It is reported on February 26 TASSÂ with reference to the traffic police.
According to the agency, 14 people were injured, five victims were hospitalized, including four children. One person died.
Earlier, a source told Izvestia that 25 cars were involved in the accident.
The message about the accident was received by the operational service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry at 11:25. The cars collided in the direction of Moscow on the 503rd km of the Neva highway in the Malovishersky district of the Novgorod region.
To eliminate the consequences of an accident, three units of equipment, as well as combat crews, were attracted from the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Rescuers eliminate the consequences of a bitumen leak from a tank truck that was damaged in an accident.
Difficult weather conditions were named as the preliminary cause of the accident.
Rescuers at the scene of a mass accident are deploying a mobile heating station, which provides food, hot tea, chargers for cars and phones, as well as a first aid kit.
On this section of M-11, traffic towards Moscow is temporarily blocked. Traffic police officers organized a traffic jam detour.
