Tasneem Khalil, a propagandist lapdog of Islamists and jihadists

0

Self-proclaimed anarchist Tasneem Khalil who runs a website named Netra News has been continuing vile propaganda against Bangladesh and democratically elected secularist government. Although Netra News is receiving US$700,000 every year as grant from the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), he being the Editor-in-Chief of this website, along with few other individuals are using the American tax payer’s money towards fulfilling his personal vendetta and political agenda of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Jamaat-e-Islami and other Islamist-jihadist forces in demonizing ruling Awami League and members of the Bangladesh government.

With American tax payer’s money, Tasneem Khalil and others are running Netra News almost like propaganda website of Al Qaeda, Islamic State (ISIS) and other jihadist outfits, with the notorious agenda of unseating the democratically elected government in Bangladesh.

Anarchist Tasneem Khalil made an outrageous attempt of inciting riots in Bangladesh through his Facebook post on May 11, stating:

Dear Analysts: More important is to think whether political situation in Bangladesh will become similar as Sri Lanka, than whether Bangladesh’s economic situation will be like Sri Lanka.

Whether pro-ruling party men would be fatally beaten. For civil unrest, economic failure is not the only trigger event. In fact, looking into the scenarios in Sudan, Algeria, Belarus, Bangladesh’s situation may turn much worse. In that case, trigger event will be vote robbery.

It may be mentioned here that, Tasneem Khalil and his Netra News cronies have never written a word praising Bangladesh’s tremendous economic progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They also have never praised Bangladesh’s government’s continuous efforts in combating terrorism and religious extremism.

According to information available on the website of NED, “the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is an independent, nonprofit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world. Each year, NED makes more than 2,000 grants to support the projects of non-governmental groups abroad who are working for democratic goals in more than 100 countries.

“Since its founding in 1983, the Endowment has remained on the leading edge of democratic struggles everywhere, while evolving into a multifaceted institution that is a hub of activity, resources and intellectual exchange for activists, practitioners and scholars of democracy the world over”.

NED, claiming to be “bipartisan and transparent” says: “From its beginning, NED has remained steadfastly bipartisan. Created jointly by Republicans and Democrats, NED is governed by a board balanced between both parties and enjoys Congressional support across the political spectrum. NED operates with a high degree of transparency and accountability reflecting our founders’ belief that democracy promotion overseas should be conducted openly.

“We post information about all of our grants and activities on this Web site and are subject to multiple layers of oversight by the US Congress, the Department of State, and independent financial audit”.

Every year, the National Endowment for Democracy provides grants worth US$50 million to various newspapers and news sites around the world. Netra News is one of the recipients of NED grants.

It may be mentioned here that, the Editor-in-Chief of Netra News, Tasneem Khalil enjoys patronization from Qatari terror-broadcast network Al Jazeera, although, the main founder of Netra News, David Bergman said “Al Jazeera is not a terror-broadcast network”, despite the fact of the Qatari outlet has been committedly defending radical Islam, jihad, and anti-Semitism.

Main agenda of Netra News is defaming Bangladesh’s democratic institutions and inciting “mass revolt” in the country and unseating the current secularist government of Awami League party. Tasneem Khalil, the Editor-in-Chief of Al Jazeera has been actively defaming Bangladesh, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other key figures in the government, while he has always been observing mysterious silence in exposing notorious actions of pro-Islamist Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and pro-terror Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI). He also has been silent on other jihadist groups in Bangladesh, such as Hefazat-e-Islam (HeI).

Tasneem Khalil and his cronies in Netra News also are helping Islamist and jihadist groups in Bangladesh by preparing so-called dossiers filled with lies and bogus information on Bangladesh’s ruling Awami League.

It is also learnt, Tasneem Khalil and Netra News cronies are being assigned by Jamaat-e-Islami to establish contacts with journalists in several media outlets in the world, including Al Jazeera, BBC and CNN and offer handsome cash incentives for making “documentary” against Bangladesh’s ruling party. It is further learnt that this vicious circle also is planning to make several documentaries with the target of releasing those on YouTube channel of Netra News as well as few more pro-Islamist YouTube channels from the beginning on 2023.
