Journalist Rahman Mustafiz’s Facebook ID comes under Hefazat attacks

Now members of the cyber unit of pro-Caliphate Hefazat-e-Islam are targeting Facebook IDs of secularist individuals and eminent journalists. According to information, Rahman Mustafiz published a post on his Facebook ID expressing utter dismay at a message he received from Facebook stating:

Warning: Your account is at risk of being disabled. It’s against our Community Standards to:

Pretend to be another person, real or fake,

Use more than one account,

Make comments or posts that mislead people.

We may restrict or disable your account if you go against these or any of our other Community Standards again. They’re in place to help keep Facebook safe and welcoming for everyone.

In response to the message, Rahman Mustafiz wrote to Facebook authorities stating:

I think someone (I don’t know who that person) might have wrongly reported my post. I am a journalist in Bangladesh for many years, while I am also a member of the Governing Body of our National Press Club. As a journalist, I have been fighting terrorism, communalism and religious extremism. I believe, none of my posts went against the Community Standard of Facebook.

I have been using this ID since 2007. Please check that complaint that you may have received against my ID or post. I want to firmly say, such complaint was made with the wrong intention of harassing me and killing my Facebook ID.

Facebook IDs of secularist individuals under attack

As reported in Blitz, Hefazat-e-Islam has formed a team of cyber warriors comprising thousands of madrassa students and teachers to combat anti-militancy, anti-terrorism and anti-Hefazat posts and IDs on social media, it is well anticipated that Rahman Mustafiz has become a target of those miscreants.

Ever-since Bangladesh government began legal action against the leaders of pro-Caliphate Hefazat-e-Islam, members and activists of this notorious jihadist outfits are becoming increasingly active on social media as well as video-sharing platform YouTube, flooding those places with anti-government and pro-jihadist propaganda contents.

Recently a dangerous video content on YouTube was identified by the investigative reporters of Blitz, where an individual named Abu Sayeed, a leader of BNP’s Olama Dal is seen passing extremely derogatory and seditious comments against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Although, editor of Blitz, Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury has written letters of several senior officials of Bangladesh Police requesting them to take action against Abu Sayeed, there has not been any action in this regard. Moreover, Blitz had also published a report with evidence of a female activist of Hefazat, who posted a video on her Facebook inciting anti-Modi riot. Surprisingly, this has also been unattended by the law enforcement agencies.
