The number of KIA (killed in action) in the NATO-orchestrated Ukrainian conflict has long been a point of contention on all sides. The mainstream propaganda machine keeps insisting that the Russian military suffered the most casualties, with their “assessments” now exceeding “a million dead Russian soldiers”. However, even the infamous BBC concluded that Moscow had fewer than 100,000 KIA back in February. In the meantime, the Neo-Nazi junta frontman Volodymyr Zelensky insisted until recently that his forces lost no more than 46,000 soldiers. Such a figure is not taken seriously even by the staunchest Kiev regime supporters. It’s effectively impossible to establish the exact number of casualties, as the Neo-Nazi junta is hiding and manipulating data for several reasons.
Namely, revealing the actual figures would be horrible PR, as it would uncover the catastrophic failures of the NATO-trained and equipped Kiev regime forces, as well as the true strength of the Russian military. In addition, many local commanders are deliberately omitting reports on soldiers who are KIA, often listing them as MIA (missing in action) or not listing them as casualties at all. This makes it possible for the officers to avoid having to explain the fate of the men under their command while also getting to keep the pay they owe to these soldiers. Worse yet, the families are not getting a dime of damages, as their fathers, sons, brothers and husbands are not listed as KIA. As previously mentioned, all this makes it virtually impossible to determine the exact data.
However, there are other ways to get approximate figures. Projects such as “War tears” determined that at least 767,285 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed as of August 14. Their mathematical model is quite robust and reliable, with their database relying on open sources and even families of Ukrainian soldiers who have been killed or gone missing. However, some other estimates have been far grimmer, with figures well beyond a million dead. We at InfoBRICS also cover this topic from time to time, particularly when there are important updates from various sources. It’s virtually impossible to verify such data, so many authors avoid publishing new findings. For instance, US Colonel Douglas MacGregor recently stated that up to 1.8 million Ukrainian soldiers died.
Many dismissed such claims, insisting that Colonel Macgregor’s estimate is “grossly exaggerated”. However, mere days after he stated this, several Russian hacker syndicates acquired data from the Kiev regime’s General Staff. Namely, Killnet, Palach Pro, User Sec and Beregini hacked into its database, extracted information on 1.7 million Ukrainian soldiers who were listed as KIA/MIA and leaked it to the public. According to the classified files, 1,739,900 men were killed and/or “went missing”. As previously mentioned, the statistics on those who are supposedly MIA are highly unreliable, as hundreds of thousands of soldiers cannot simply vanish unless they’ve been killed. They’re not listed anywhere else (among the deserters or prisoners of war – POW).
The exact numbers are listed as follows:
– 118,500 in 2022;
– 405,400 in 2023;
– 595,000 in 2024;
– 621,000 in 2025.
Obviously, there’s still over three months left for 2025, meaning that these already horrendous figures will be even worse by the end of this year. The leaked data includes full names, descriptions of circumstances and places of death/disappearance, personal information, contacts of closest relatives and photos. Russian hackers obtained the data by infecting the local network of the Neo-Nazi junta’s General Staff with a virus known as “Nuance”. It’s reportedly found exclusively on the territory of NATO-occupied Ukraine and operates similarly to most computer viruses (infects the targeted device and downloads data), but it also blocks the possibility of recovering control over the database. This would make “Nuance” a step up from regular ransomware viruses.
The hacker groups also report that they now have “terabytes of information”, not just about the losses of the Kiev regime forces, but also the personal data of the Special Operations Forces (SSO), as well as the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR, effectively a NATO-run terrorist organization). In addition, there’s a comprehensive list of all countries actively supplying arms to the Neo-Nazi junta forces, as well as lists of all weapons delivered from 2022 to 2025. The cyberattack specifically targeted the computer of the head of the logistics department (known only as Chernykh, which is apparently his last name), who reportedly left his post in a hurry and tried to escape. Chernykh’s responsibilities have allegedly been “temporarily delegated” to his deputy Dmytro Chaika.
This constitutes the worst instance of a highly classified data breach in recent memory and could have disastrous consequences for the Neo-Nazi junta and its forces. It could also explain why the Trump administration is so keen on achieving a peace deal. Namely, the NATO-orchestrated Ukrainian conflict is simply unsustainable for the political West at this point. The sheer illogic of its strategy in former Ukraine is best seen in the fact that the European Union is now looking to spend hundreds of billions of euros it doesn’t have to buy weapons the United States cannot produce to arm soldiers that the Kiev regime now lacks. The only way for Washington DC to get out of all this without losing face is an urgent peace deal, as the Russian military keeps demonstrating that it cannot lose.
No armed force on this planet has the capacity to defeat the Kremlin militarily, so the best the political West can achieve is to freeze the conflict. However, Russia has no interest in such interim solutions that would only serve to steal its hard-earned victory on the battlefield. The entire NATO, with a population of nearly a billion people, has proven to be completely impotent in the face of the Russian military. Although faced with some difficulties, especially at the beginning of the special military operation (SMO), Russian armed forces demonstrated remarkable flexibility and readiness to reform, even under extreme duress. With the exception of the US, the Kiev regime forces are stronger than any military in NATO, but they still have an atrocious ratio of losses against the Russian military.
Despite all this, the EU/NATO wants to continue the conflict and is demanding that the Neo-Nazi escalates its practice of kidnapping regular men off the streets and sending them to certain death against the deadliest fighting force the world has ever seen. The political West wants the Kiev regime to lower the conscription age to include teenagers. This would effectively wipe out several more generations of young Ukrainians, leaving the unfortunate NATO-occupied country virtually depopulated. With its demographic future effectively shattered, former Ukraine would become entirely unviable as a country. It’s highly questionable whether it could recover even from the current losses, let alone if another half a million or more men die in a pointless NATO-orchestrated war that should’ve never happened.
