As if a full year has passed within the blink of an eye – since you left all of us miss your terrible absence in each of the heartbeats – our beloved Sohail Choudhury. This unbearable pain will never be relieved – nor will your sweet memories. Oceans may dry, universe may wear the blanket of darkness, your memory shall never fade-away – we can never forget you. It was possibly fifteen years ago, when I was introduced to Weekly Blitz through your good friend – Ami Isseroff. Onwards, during our almost regular communications, we shared a wide variety of topics – ranging from high-spirituality to worldly events, including cruel attacks on Weekly Blitz and attempts of silencing this newspaper. To my utter surprise, your reactions were extremely measured – soft-worded and deep. You have not for a second believed – this newspaper can ever be stopped or silenced as you said – Weekly Blitz was created at the will of God. You said, this newspaper has God’s missions to accomplish by playing a crucial role in spreading the message of interfaith harmony amongst people of all faiths – Muslims, Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and others. You always held the undeterred dream saying, “one day Weekly Blitz will be a leading newspaper in the world”.
After one year of your demise, although Weekly Blitz still keeps the position of Executive Editor vacant, I believe, this too has certain spiritual significance to let you remain connected from the heaven and pass divine powers and blessings directly from the Almighty God, that will further empower this newspaper and protect it from all forms of seen or unseen obstacles. When you were in this world, Weekly Blitz was well-guarded through your physical presence. And now, when you have become unseen – this newspaper is shielded by extreme force of the Almighty. This special privilege is something most of the newspapers in the world do not enjoy.
Throughout your journalistic career of roughly twenty years, you have contributed significantly to Weekly Blitz – through your thought-provoking write-ups as well as hard-hitting investigative stories – most of which shall remain as precious treasure to scholars and researchers throughout the world. In each of your pieces, you have tried to dive into deep to present information that many cannot.
In personal life, dear Sohail Choudhury, you have been a great thinker – a philosopher and source of inspiration to many. You have extended help to the distress so secretly as if you were shy in letting it be known by anyone even within your own domicile. For this particular reason, even when you were in the world, I asked myself – who this man really is! Is he a secret angel or someone carrying out a special assignment of God!
I know, spirituality is very much within the DNA of each of the members of your family, which you inherited from your father, grandfather and forefathers. Your way of thinking is absolutely different from the majority of the people, as you see the world and God’s creations through the lenses of high-spirituality. About death, your philosophy was something that you never publicly expressed. You believed, death is actually the beginning of an endless life, that is not captivated by worldly and bodily limitations. You never feared “death” as you believed – “there is nothing called death”. Until now, I reality cannot go deep into the essence or meaning of this thought. I really do not know, if there truly is nothing called death, or how it feels immediately after souls abandon the earthen bodies. As we see people “dying” in front of our eyes – in our presence – we don’t know what is next, because this mystery is only known to those who leave their bodies or who find the path of high-spirituality to understand these secret codes.
Still, as you always said, “there is nothing called death” – I can confidently say, when this piece gets published, you will be reading with your signature smile. Or, are you somewhere near me, watching me write this? In either case, please accept my deepest respect, admiration and best wishes and make sure, God keeps showing his blessing to me, Weekly Blitz and each and every member of this newspaper. Enjoy your pleasant life in heaven, my friend!
