His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and His Excellency President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held an official talks session on May 17, 2023 morning at the Amiri Diwan.

At the outset of the session, His Highness the Amir welcomed HE President of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay, affirming His Highness’ keenness to enhance brotherly relations between the two countries and looking forward to further joint cooperation.

For his part, His Excellency President of Somalia expressed his thanks and appreciation for HH the Amir for the good reception and hospitality, expressing his pride in the level of cooperation and development of relations between the two brotherly countries and pushing them to broader horizons in various fields.

His Excellency also extended his thanks and appreciation to HH the Amir for the development support provided by the State of Qatar to the Somali people.

During the session, bilateral relations between Qatar and Somalia were discussed, as well as ways to support and develop them in various fields of cooperation – especially in development and economy, to serve the common interests and aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, in addition to discussing the most important regional and international developments of mutual interest.

HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, HE Minister of Culture Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani, HE Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi and a number of Their Excellencies senior officials attended the talks session.

On the Somali side, HE Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia Saleh Ahmed Jamea, HE Minister of Finance of the Federal Republic of Somalia Dr. Elmi Mahmud Nur, HE Minister of Education, Culture and Higher Education Farah Sheikh Abdulqadir, HE Director of the State House of Somali President Hussein Sheikh Mahmoud and a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation attended the talks session.

His Highness the Amir held a luncheon banquet in honor of HE President of Somalia and the accompanying delegation.

His Excellency President of Somalia had arrived at the Amiri Diwan earlier on Wednesday, where His Excellency was accorded an official reception.
