Maharashtra ranks first in sugar production in the country, 105 lakh 27 thousand tonnes of sugar produced


Pune, 30 April (Hindustan). This year, 210 sugar mills of Maharashtra have accomplished the target of crushing 10 crore 54 lakh 75 thousand tonnes of sugarcane. A total of 105 lakh 27 thousand tonnes of sugar has been produced this year. Compared to the year 2021, the crushing of two crore 67 lakh tonnes of sugarcane has decreased, so this time there has been less production of 31.58 lakh tonnes of sugar.

According to the Sugar Commissionerate, the maximum crushing of 18.41 lakh tonnes of sugarcane this year took place at the Vitthalrao Shinde Cooperative Sugar Mill in Solapur. 164 days sugarcane crushing in Natural Sugar Osmanabad, 162 days in Sagar Cooperative Karmayogi Ankushrao Tope Cooperative, 160 days in Shree Siddheshwar Cooperative Solapur, 158 days in Shree Vighnahar Cooperative Pune, 157 days in Shree Someshwar Pune, 157 days in Sant Tukaram Pune Is.

According to Sugar Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad, the sugarcane crop has been affected by climate change. The average hectare productivity has reduced from 115 tonnes to 80 to 85 tonnes. The production of sugar has also declined due to excessive digging of sugarcane. Maharashtra has been number one in the country this year too with the production of 105.27 lakh tonnes of sugar.
