The Electricity Corporation has suspended Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) and Junior Engineer (JE) on charges of connivance with power thieves in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar district.
Rajeev Mohan, Chief Executive Engineer of the Electricity Department of the district, said that last Thursday, cases of illegal charging of e-rickshaws and batteries were reported at four places in Chhalera and Sadarpur Colony, and in this electricity theft of Rs 1.5 crore was caught. .
He said that after investigation in this matter, the involvement of SDO Brijmohan Soni and JE Mohan Swaroop was found and they have been suspended and attached to Saharanpur district.
According to the officials of the Electricity Department, action is likely to be taken against some more officers if the scope of investigation in the case increases further.
